BMR Calculator
Basal Metabolic Rate is the number of calories your body burns at complete rest to maintain vital functions.
About BMR
Your Basal Metabolic Rate accounts for roughly 60 to 75 percent of the calories you burn each day. Understanding your BMR is the foundation for any calorie-based nutrition plan, whether your goal is weight loss, maintenance, or muscle gain.
This calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, widely considered the most accurate BMR formula for most people. It was developed in the 1990s and validated against indirect calorimetry in numerous studies.
Men: BMR = 10×W + 6.25×H − 5×A + 5Women: BMR = 10×W + 6.25×H − 5×A − 161W = weight (kg), H = height (cm), A = age (years)
To find your total daily calorie needs, multiply your BMR by an activity factor. Use our TDEE Calculator for that.
